Dear Happy M5 Hosting Customer,

         First, let me thank you for your continued trust in us to 
provide you with excellent hosting services. Your referrals and 
compliments are greatly appreciated. We will continue our effort to 
deserve and earn them both.

         We have periodically sent our customers an e-mail from time 
to time, to notify you of scheduled maintenance which may affect your 
service, improvements in your service and other pertinent 
communication. I am writing to you today to tell you about how we 
have improved the service you trust us to provide you every day, as 
well as announce some planned improvements.


For All Customers:
         The Data Center is currently served by 7 Gigabit and 
multi-Gigabit fiber providers, and even more IP providers, all routed 
using technology that improves performance of BGP by up to 50%. This 
is about to improve with the addition of private peering agreements 
between our Data Center and 120 new networks. These agreements will 
be coming on line over the next few months... some are already in 
place. These private peering agreements will connect us directly to 
content rich and user rich networks such as Microsoft, Google, New 
Edge Networks, Deutsche Telekom, Akamai, China Telecom, and others. 
These private connections mean that traffic between our network and 
the peer will not normally need to go across the public Internet 
(routers that are beyond our control). Instead, most of these 
connections will be direct Gigabit connections. The result is reduced 
latency and increased reliability. In the event that the private 
network connection is down or experiencing difficulty, the traffic 
will go across the Internet as it does now. We will share more on 
this upgrade in the coming months.
         We will also be putting up a web page, "What people are 
saying about us". This page of references and testimonials will be 
linked to from every page on our web site. This will likely give it a 
Google Page Rank of 4 or better. Any page this page links to will 
almost certainly be found by Google if it isn't already. I bring this 
up, because we will link to your site if you offers us a testimonial. 
This isn't a bribe for a good testimonial, it's intended to help 
motivate you write any honest testimonial and to help promote your 
web site by linking to your web site. We have received some great 
testimonials already... totally unsolicited. Just send those 
testimonials to myself or to sales[at]m5hosting.com.


For Dedicated Server Customers:
         Due to our steady growth, we recently signed the papers to 
increase our total rack space by another 100% (50% immediately and 
another 50% later this year). In addition to this growth, we will be 
making improvements in network infrastructure.
         While all servers are currently connected to 100Mbps switch 
ports and are not throttled in any way, we will be upgrading the core 
switching to Gigabit Ethernet and all of the uplinks between 
aggregation switches and the core switch to Gigabit Ethernet as well. 
This will allow multiple full speed transfers between servers in 
different racks without affecting other traffic. We have not yet 
detected any case where this has been a problem, but as some of our 
customers are growing and may have servers in different racks, or 
that may be backing up their servers to systems in other racks, this 
upgrade will keep bulk transfers between racks from affecting other 
traffic. This upgrade will take several small steps to complete. The 
new Gigabit core switch hardware has arrived and we expect to make a 
maintenance announcement shortly.


For Shared Hosting Customers:
         You may already be happy with the Webalizer statistics for 
your web sites. But, we have improved them anyway. We have increased 
the number of "Search Strings" that appear in the statistics from 20 
to 50. Additionally, ALL of the search strings used to find your site 
are available by following the "View All Search Strings" link at the 
bottom of the Search String section of your statistics. This upgrade 
will help you learn how people find your site in greater detail, and 
learn how your marketing efforts are working.
