Dear Happy M5 hosting Customer,
From time to time the local power company (SDG&E) needs to
perform maintenance on the power grids that feed our data center.
This time around, the maintenance will require that they cut the
power to the San Diego Technical Center. The SDTC is home to several
data centers, including ours.
Our's wouldn't be much of a data center if there were not
contingencies in place for this type of situation. As you know, our
data center has full UPS service to every machine, and a regularly
maintained 2 MegaWatt Caterpillar power generator. Our services
should not be affected. However, any time power systems are exercised
there is some risk of something unexpected happening. I felt it was
prudent to inform you of this maintenance period.
During this period, there will be a second power generator
brought on site to act as a backup to the permanent 2 MegaWatt
Caterpillar which will be powering the data center during the power
company's maintenance.
